Day 28: Check out the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

Day 28: Check out the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree represents in the New York City a great holiday tradition that attracts thousands of people and visitors. Enjoy one of New York City's most celebrated events for over 75 years, and a world-wide symbol of the NYC holiday season - the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.

The Christmas tree is tipically a Norway Spruce. The manager from the Rockefeller Center prefers a 75 and 90 feet tall and proportionally wide tree. To decorate the tree are used every year over 5 miles electrical wire with 30.000 environmentally friendly LED lights. On the top of the Christmas tree it is a marvelous crystal star.

The 2010 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree was lit for the first time on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 with live and taped performances from 7-9pm. The tree will be illuminated through January 2, 2011. The tree will be illuminated from from 5:30am to 11:30pm daily, all day (24 hours) on Christmas Day, and from 5:30am to 9pm on New Year's Eve. The tree may be viewed 24 hours a day, but is the most glorious when lit.

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is located within the Rockefeller Center Plaza at 50th Street and 5th Avenue.

The tree is located at Rockefeller Plaza, between West 48th and West 51st Streets and 5th and 6th Avenues, Manhattan. The closest subways are the B/D/F/V to 47-50 Streets/Rockefeller Center, the 1 to 50th Street and Broadway, or the 6 to 51st and Lexington Avenue.
